2017 marked the 70th Anniversary of Ferrari as a car manufacturer. Celebrations and events were organized across the world to celebrate the milestone, and at the factory in Maranello, a limited run of 350 70th anniversary cars were built. Appropriately, 70 colour schemes commemorating the best Ferraris of the past were created, and adorned to the best modern day prancing horses. This included the 488 GTB, 488 Spider, F12, California T and GTC/4 Lusso.
This 488 GTB is one of the 70th anniversary specials. It is a ‘one-of-one’; the only 488 GTB in the world in this spec, inspired by the 1953 250 Europa Vignale Coupe, itself a very rare and sought-after car, with just 22 examples ever built.
Our 488 GTB has a two-tone colour scheme, with Marrone Brown as the primary colour, and a Rosso Vinaccia roof. On the side skirts of the car, you find a 70th anniversary dedication plate, subtly acknowledging this car’s special edition status. Inside there is plentiful leather upholstery and a cavallino stitched emblem on the headrests of the seats, creating a feeling of luxury as you experience the performance of the 488 GTB.
Mechanically, the car is unchanged from a standard 488 GTB. A 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 delivers 661bhp to the rear wheels, via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The car will accelerate from 0-62mph in just three seconds, and go on to a top speed of 224mph. The car weighs just 1,470kg, and has an advanced downforce package, meaning it is just as potent when the roads get twisty.
